Menippe adina is a species of crab, sometimes called the Gulf stone crab[1] or Western Gulf stone crab.[2] It is very closely related to the Florida stone crab, Menippe mercenaria, of which it is sometimes considered to be a sub-species. The geographic range of M. adina overlaps with that of M. mercenaria, extending from Wakulla County, Florida around the Gulf of Mexico to Tamaulipas state, Mexico.[2]

Like the Florida stone crab, the claws of M. adina can be used as food. The shell color is black-blue, while the claws are dark-blue with crimson on the tips. Its legs are blue and purple colored.
