GIVE Center East

GIVE Center East (Gwinnett InterVention and Education) Center is one of two alternative schools in the Gwinnett County Public Schools System in Gwinnett County, Georgia. GIVE was founded in 1994 as a program for students in grades 6 through 12 with severe discipline issues that prevented them from attending their home school. Students may be assigned to the GIVE Center anywhere from 10 days to one calendar year. Students exiting the juvenile justice system also attend GIVE for 30 days as a transition program to their home schools. GIVE originally was housed in the basement of Collins Hill High School, but relocated to a shared facility with Hooper-Renwick School in Lawrenceville. The Hooper-Renwick site however did not have enough space to house all students which meant students would, regardless of school district be sent to GIVE Center West in Norcross. In the 2006-2007 school year, GIVE East moved to new facilities at 723 Hi Hope Road in Lawrenceville and can now house approximately 500 students. As of July 1, 2008, Jay Paschall serves as principal of GIVE Center East when the previous principal Donna Scott was tapped to lead Phoenix High School. Students at GIVE are expected to complete the Gwinnett County Academic Knowledge and Skills curriculum just as they would at their home schools and complete all standardized testing. In addition, all students participate in advisement classes to aid in their transition back to their home schools.

GIVE East serves students from the following clusters:
