Venkatesh Daggubati (Telugu: వెంకటేష్ దగ్గుబాటి) is an Indian film actor who stars in Tollywood films. He is the son of veteran Tollywood film producer, former MP, Dr. D. Ramanaidu. He is often credited as Victory Venkatesh in films and is one of the lead actors in Telugu Cinema. He has won seven Nandi Awards and four Filmfare Awards South.

Early life

Venkatesh was born to Dr. D. Ramanaidu and Rajeshwari in Chennai. He has an elder brother who runs Suresh Productions, and a younger sister, Lakshmi. Venkatesh did his schooling in Don Bosco, Egmore, Chennai. He graduated with a Bachelors in Commerce from Loyola College in Chennai and got his MBA from the Monterey Institute of International Studies, USA.[1] After his return to India, he wanted to get into film production but instead, became an actor in Telugu films.

Child actor

According to the "Padutha Teeyaga - ETV Grand Reality Show" show on 5 April 2010, D.Suresh Babu (brother of Venkatesh) said that Venkatesh acted as Chinna Satyanarayana in the movie Prem Nagar.

Career and awards

Venkatesh debuted in Kaliyuga Pandavulu in the year 1986, which got him Nandi award for best male debut actor. At an early phase in his career, Venkatesh acted in Swarnakamalam, directed by K Viswanath, which got him his second Nandi award. Bobbili Raja, with the delightful Divya Bharti, was a box office hit. Venkatesh worked with Ram Gopal Varma in the film Kshana Kshanam. In 1991, Chanti, a family drama, both of them were box office hits.

In 2009, he teamed up with his friend Kamal Haasan for Eeenadu, which was released in September 2009. His latest movie is Namo Venkatesa, directed by Sreenu Vytla; it was released as a Sankranthi special and celebrated its grand 100 days function on 26 April, being 2010’s first 100-day film.[2] In 2010 he was in Nagavalli, a remake of Aptharakshaka.[3] In 2011 he signed Savitri[4] in Teja's direction. Venkatesh would appear in a paraplegic patient role on wheel chair in this movie.[5]

He has won 7 Nandi awards, 4 Filmfare Awards, and many other awards as best actor for playing a variety of challenging roles in his career spanning 64 feature films in 25 years. His brother D. Suresh Babu, a very successful producer, has produced most of his successful films under Suresh Productions.

Endorsements

On April 24, 2010, he signed with Manappuram General Finance and Leasing Ltd as their brand ambassador for Andhra Pradesh.[6]
