"The Chopping Block" is an Australian reality television series which began airing on the Nine Network on February 6, 2008. Catriona Rowntree co-hosted the show with Moran in its first season. NBC and Granada America have picked up the rights to produce the series in the United States. To be hosted by Marco Pierre White, it will air during the 2008/2009 television season. Format

Each week two Melbourne and Sydney restaurants will be reviewed by a secret critic and given $5,000. With assistance from restaurateur Matt Moran they have 72 hours to overhaul their menu, service and décor in an effort to win his approval.

However, the American version will introduce a number of changes to the format, such as an ongoing competition instead of self-contained episodes, baring some similarities to the Seven Network show "My Restaurant Rules". Ratings

The first episode of "The Chopping Block" had a disappointing debut, with only 718,000 viewers nationally, a low figure for its 7:30 - 8:30 timeslot. It came up against "So You Think You Can Dance Australia", on Network Ten, which attracted 1.6 million viewers nationally, and the documentary "Shape of Things to Come" which garnered 1 million viewers on the Seven Network.cite web|first=David|last=Knox|title=Chopping Block lacking customers|url=http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2008/02/chopping-block-lacking-customers.html|publisher=tvtonight.com.au|date=2008-02-07|accessdate=2008-02-07]

A repeat of the first episode was aired the following night at 10:30pm as an uncut version. This repeat replaced a scheduled airing of "Amazing Medical Stories", and managed a reasonable 546,000 viewers for its timeslot. The second episode fared much better, while still not great, it managed 1,040,000 viewers nationally - nearly 300,000 more viewers than the first episode.cite web|first=David|last=Knox|title=Week 7|url=http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2008/02/week-7.html|date=2008-02-11|accessdate=2008-02-14]
