Aftermath
Despite an undefeated 13-0 season by Nebraska, the Cornhuskers finished the season ranked number 2 in the AP Poll, behind Rose Bowl champion Michigan. The lopsided Nebraska victory and Michigan's lackluster win over Washington State in the Rose Bowl, however, enabled Nebraska a split of the national championship capturing the number 1 spot in the coaches poll. Tennessee finished the season 11-2.
