Arsenate reductase (azurin)

In enzymology, an arsenate reductase (azurin) (EC number|1.20.98.1) is an enzyme that catalyzes the chemical reaction

:arsenite + H₂O + 2 azurinox $ightleftharpoons$ arsenate + 2 azurinred + 2 H⁺

The 3 substrates of this enzyme are arsenite, H₂O, and azurinox, whereas its 3 products are arsenate, azurinred, and H⁺.

This enzyme belongs to the family of oxidoreductases, specifically those acting on phosphorus or arsenic in donor with other, known, acceptors. The systematic name of this enzyme class is arsenite:azurin oxidoreductase. This enzyme is also called arsenite oxidase.
