Babylon (film)

"Babylon" is a 1980 film that depicts the struggles of a Black British working class musician. It stars Brinsley Forde of the reggae band, Aswad. It was written by Martin Stellman (writer of "Quadrophenia") and directed by Franco Rosso and starred Brinsley Forde, Karl Howman and Trevor Laird. .

The film revolves around racism from police and thugs, black on black violence, poverty and disillusion and lack of opportunities. Music, that runs through the film, is as important to many Black British urban youth as it was over twenty years ago as a means of escape, enjoyment and defiance.
