The Tweedles

The Tweedles

The Tweedles is a sketch comedy group based out of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Their work appears online and on a show for public-access television called "The Tweedles." The group is heavily influenced by similar and more popular shows such as Kids In The Hall, Saturday Night Live, and In Living Color. The group consists of a ten-member ensemble cast whose ages range from 17 to 50. Their sketches frequently feature guests who are usually friends of the main cast members. The group was formed in the summer of 2006 after its producers, Brent Childers and Jimmer Moeller, held open auditions at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne. To date, The Tweedles have produced and completed a total of two episodes and are currently working on the third. Since a majority of cast members are college students with limited availability, it generally takes longer to tape and produce each episode. The main platform for the group is Access Fort Wayne, a public cable access station, and College Access 5, another cable access station located on the IPFW campus in Fort Wayne. Some of the group's sketches are available on YouTube, MySpace Video, and Google Video. They have also posted their full length episodes online.

Production History

Episode 1

The first episode began production in August 2006. Episode One featured eight original sketches along with two musical guest segments featuring Fort Wayne based acoustic rock band, Crouse & Brita. Episode 1 aired on Access Fort Wayne at least six times in the fall of 2006. Notable sketches include "Silly Pink Fizz Soda" (a parody of the Budweiser "What's Up!" commercials) and "Breakup Party," a commercial for a fictional compilation album featuring songs about breaking up and stalking people. Christmas Special

"A Very Special Tweedles Christmas Special" was a three-part sketch made in December 2006 exclusively for the Internet and featuring that a handful of Tweedles cast members. It was a story about Dinger the Elf who was fired by Santa Claus for dancing to a sped up version of Michael Jackson's "The Way You Make Me Feel" in a scandalous video. In the end of the sketch, Dinger the Elf indirectly causes Santa to be killed. The three part sketch was eventually taken offline.

Episode 2

The second episode began production in May 2007 and was completed in the fall. A Fort Wayne-based rockabilly act, "The Ton Up Boys," was originally scheduled as musical guest, but encountered scheduling problems after having broken up and reforming. As a result, the second episode had no musical guest, but instead featured ten comedy sketches. The second episode is noted for more polished and streamlined production than the premiere episode.

One of the sketches, [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jTORy-51-4s "Crappy Local News"] , was aired in its entirety on [http://www.wowo.com/Programs/ThePatWhiteShow/tabid/82/Default.aspx/ The Pat White Show] , a local afternoon talk radio program on News Talk 1190 AM WOWO. The sketch gained popularity for its satirical portrayal of Fort Wayne's local television news operations.

The second episode first aired on October 11, 2007, and is scheduled to air throughout the fall and winter seasons. As with the first episode, the entire episode is available online.
