Puni (clan)

Puni (clan)

Puni is a clan and gotra of Jats and Rajputs from Northern Indian State of Punjab. Most of the members of this clan are predominantly Sikhs by religion and found more in Majha and Doaba regions of Punjab and are settled in both rural and urban areas. Many have now migrated overseas also mostly in England, Canada and U.S.A.

Some historians claim them to be originated from Rathores of Rajasthan. Some members of this clan were also soldiers in Guru Gobind Singh Ji's army and fought many wars against the mughal rulers and sacrificed their lives (Shaheed) for mankind and Sikhism. They have played a distinct role in Sikh History.
