The "Journal of Infection in Developing Countries" is an academic journal that publishes research papers and commentaries in the biomedical area related to infectious diseases. Topics covered include immunology, microbiology, infectious disease, virology, bacteriology, mycology, public health, parasitology and tropical medicine. The journal began as a consequence of the need to provide all infectious disease researchers from developing countries with an international forum for publishing their research findings.

This journal is published on a not-for-profit basis and is part of some international open access initiatives to make available the scientific research information to all the biomedical community. The editorial staff is constituted by an Editor-in-Chief, with seven academic Editors, three associated editors and a long list of members of the Board.

JIDC is published bimonthly. An online archive is available in text and PDF formats. The access to all the contents of the journal is free of charge.
