Daintree Networks, Inc. is a software solutions provider for wireless sensor and control networks based on IEEE 802.15.4 and ZigBee. Founded in 2003, Daintree is headquartered in Fremont, California with an R&D lab in Melbourne, Australia.

History

Daintree was founded in 2003 by Bill Wood, who had previously worked as a General Manager for Agilent Technologies, and prior to that at Hewlett-Packard.

The company was founded to pursue the emerging market for the wireless sensor and control networking of "things", often referred to as the Internet of Things.

Products

* "Sensor Network Analyzer:" Software for the development, deployment and management of wireless hardware devices and embedded applications based on ZigBee and IEEE 802.15.4. Best known for its network visualization, that graphically shows what is going on within the wireless network.

* "Sensor Network Adapter:" Hardware that can be used as a capture device in ZigBee and IEEE 802.15.4 networks, plus also actively interact with live networks to poll, configure and commission devices.

* "MeshOperator:" OEM software installed at the enterprise server and WAN-HAN gateway to deliver complete end-to-end operation and management of embedded wireless networks.

* "Management Gateway:" Part of the MeshOperator OEM solution, the management gateway hardware includes ZigBee RF and Ethernet interfaces, and provides in-premise management, diagnostics and maintenance.

ZigBee

ZigBee is the name of a specification for a suite of high-level communication protocols using small, low-power digital radios based on the IEEE 802.15.4 standard for wireless personal area networks (WPANs). ZigBee is targeted at RF applications that require a low data rate, long battery life, and secure networking.

Daintree is a member of the ZigBee Alliance, with Daintree employees serving on several Alliance working groups.
