Arabo

Arabo

Arabo ( _hy. Արաբօ, 1863 - 1893) born "Arakel" was a famed Armenian military commander of the latter 1800s, one of the first fedayees [General Andranik and the Armenian Revolutionary Movement, by Dr Antranig Chalabian, Michigan, 1988 ISBN 0962274119] .

Arabo studied at Arakelots monastery school in Mush. Since late-1880s he led Armenian fedayee groups of Sasun and Taron. In 1892, he was arrested by Turkish authorities, sentenced for 15 years imprisonment, but escaped from prison and resumed fedayee activities.

Arabo was killed in 1893 during the battle against Kurdish gangs on the road from Khnus to Mush (Western Armenia).
