List of Raven series

List of Raven series

This article details the series from the children's game show series, Raven. Warriors are listed in their finishing position, so that for each week, entries at the bottom finished last, and entries at the top finish first. The final week warriors also change emblems for the final week so as not to clash with each other.

*"Yellow cells" indicate those two winners who go through to the final week, and "gold" denotes the ultimate warrior for the final week winner.
*"Blue cells" show those few warriors that have completed Way of the Warrior.
*"Red cells" indicate injuries or retirements.

eries 1 (2002)

The first series aired at the end of 2002 as a brand-new show for the new digital channel, CBBC, and is notably different to the subsequent series. The outfits comprise pants and shirt of varying earth-like colours, and a sash of specific colour to identify them and match their standards: mauve, sky blue, tree green, pure black, pale brown or olive green. Raven's appearance was markedly different, with a featherless blue/black jacket and limited facial hair, whilst Raven himself was much more comedic, sarcastic and friendly with the warriors, whilst still retaining his respectful nature towards them. Lacking his Staff of Power from later series, he would give and take lives using the metal clip on his middle finger. The tournament rules also differed: on the final day of each week, a warrior completing a challenge would win back a life, and no lives would be lost for failing.

Two warriors were forced to retire early. Gaale was forced to quit on the final day of the first week. Having initially hurt her knee in Stepping Stones on day three, she later hurt it again at the Castle on day four, and withdrew on day five. Sejen, who had been knocked out the day before, replaced her, but did not go through to the final. In week two, Kefra was too ill to carry on in the quest, and was replaced by new warrior Racar, who was eliminated the day after. Racar and Boyan are the only warriors of the whole series to have lost all their lives, although they did so at the end of the day after failing the Way of the Warrior, a challenge which no-one completed this series. Adluk is the only warrior not to have won any rings.

eries 4 (2005)

Changes in the fourth series, airing from November 2005, include bolder designs for emblems that have remained as such to the present series, and their increased use in the show, such as the entrance to the Way of the Warrior. [http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/A5404231] The opening theme music, along with music used between challenges, was updated; the number of lives, and rings needed to regain one, was changed to nine.

Kinsa managed to complete the Way of the Warrior this series. Although there were no retirements, Simal was slightly injured after falling off the tree in the Leap of Faith. Dejan holds the record for the maximum lives and rings over all series, with fifteen rings and all nine lives. Linma managed to come back from last place in the final Last Stand, having been released from the cages behind the other two warriors, to win the challenge and become Ultimate Warrior.

Raven: The Secret Temple (2007)

The second spin-off, Raven: The Secret Temple, aired from August 2007. Four teams of four warriors travel to a mysterious Eastern land to recover an elixir from the Secret Temple, which will help Raven free his frozen homeland from Nevar's dark magic.

eries 7 (2008)

Series 7 began on 28 January 2008 and introduced several new changes. The warrior's outfits were updated, and now included a padded top, and the colours were altered slightly. The emblems were given new prominence in the show, and the story behind their creation was detailed before the title sequence on the first day of each week, explaining how the symbols were used to restore light and sorcery to Raven's homeland before Nevar rose to threaten the land once more. Before a warrior undertakes a challenge, the emblem is displayed along with their warrior name. Special effects were also improved as the series was filmed for the first time in HD (High Definition), as was the music between challenges, comprising a new theme as well as improved versions of those from the three previous series.

The Way of the Warrior was also changed, switching the positions of the blades and the shields. Once again, no-one completed the challenge, but the warrior who reached the furthest point was Danil, who got to the last closing jaw before the portal, before grazing his leg against the side - the closest a warrior has come to completing the challenge since the series four victor, Kinsa. During the final week, the warrior in last place faced the Way of the Warrior starting from the first day, rather than the second, as in previous series; this was done to ensure only two warriors would remain on the final day.

This series also had the closest ever finish on the Last Stand in week two. After Danil had entered the portal, Anmah and Lenat remained. Anmah, who had been ahead of Lenat for most of the challenge, had trouble connecting his cylinder to the rope line, allowing Lenat to catch up, and ultimately beat him to the portal by about one second. Anmah was then blasted by Nevar just as he was about to enter the portal.

eries 8 (2008)

Series 8 was filmed from 25th May 2008, and aired from 30th September on BBC One. Production for this series moved to Aviemore, instead of the usual location of Castle Toward. A number of new changes were made along with the location shift, including a larger number of water-based challenges, and reverting to the original set of outfits. Scenes showing warriors adding rings to their standards, whilst Raven adds or deducts lives, as seen in all previous series, were replaced with computer-generated imagery of the warrior's emblems, with rings being added and lives being taken or added; shots showing the warriors and Raven travelling to the next challenge were removed entirely.

Like series 7, this series was also filmed in high-definition, but unlike the previous incarnation, also aired and repeated on the BBC HD channel in the evening following the afternoon BBC One broadcast.
