The Company Of Snakes were an English rock band, founded in 1998 by former Whitesnake guitarists Bernie Marsden and Micky Moody after the demise of its predecessor The Snakes. The band was completed by fellow ex-Whitesnake member Neil Murray on bass, veteran drummer John Lingwood, and the talented (and nowadays very popular) Norwegian singer Jørn Lande.

After adding Don Airey (now in Deep Purple) to the lineup, the band went on tour, playing concerts almost completely consisting of old Whitesnake classics. Singer Lande soon grew tired of various characteristics (mainly their lack of dedication and enthusiasm, as he put it himself) of Marsden and Moody, and left the band. He was replaced by the young Stefan Berggren - who many considered to be a vocal look-a-like of Whitesnake singer David Coverdale.Company Of Snakes continued to perform and released the live album "Here They Go Again" in 2001, followed by their first and only studio album "Burst The Bubble" in 2002. By that time, Don Airey had left the band again - although Bernie Marsden stated in interviews that Airey was never a real C.O.S. member but more a "freelance" player. Not long after, Berggren also left, and the band slowly evolved into M III.
