Shermie (シェルミー) is a videogame character in the King of Fighters series. She is recognizable in her hairstyle that covers her eyes, tied with a ponytail at the back. She wears pink one-piece tight-fitting miniskirt with a short pink jacket. Her tight skirt has criss-crossing openings that partially exposes her thighs. She has a violet belt-like wrapping, and wears pink boots as well.

It is stated on [http://www.kof10th.com/english/character/index.php?num=shermie KOF 10th] that "L the Third" is the inspirational material for Shermie. This might mean she is Lupin the 3rd, in which case it implies that she was probably inspired by the character Fujiko Mine.

Shermie and Angel have the largest bust measurement of all KOF females (92 cm). This is larger than Blue Mary's and Mature's 88 cm, and seconded only by Vice's and Elisabeth's 90 cm.

History

The true origins of the Orochi fighter known as Shermie are shrouded in mystery. She, along with Yashiro Nanakase and Chris, entered the KOF '97 tournament. They originally formed a music band called "CYS" (based on the first letter of the name of each member), where Shermie played the keyboards. Later on in the tournament, it is revealed that Shermie was one of the Orochi heavenly kings alongside Goenitz. Their plan for entering the tournament was to gather enough power to re-summon the Orochi from his seal. After gathering enough energy, Shermie and the rest of the New Face Team poured it all into Chris, who used it to make a startling transformation into the original Orochi.

The ending of the New Face Team in KOF '97 has Yashiro killing off both Shermie and Chris before committing suicide. It is believed that this ending, along with the fact that Yashiro and Shermie are willing to give their lives for the resurrection of the Orochi in the cinemas, reinforces the fact that the New Face Team most likely perished in this tournament.

Though it has not been presented publicly, there is evidence through SNK that Shermie and Benimaru Nikaido might share the same blood line though ancestry.

Orochi Shermie

Orochi Shermie is an alternate version of Shermie. Her normal and throw moves remain exactly the same, but her special/super moves are completely different.

Shermie's awakened form is called Shermie of the Berserk Lightning, making her a counterpart for Benimaru Nikaido, as she shares most of his moves under a different name.

Personality

Shermie is happy-go-lucky girl, and acts typically, as her normal self. As an awakened deva of Orochi, she is just like Goenitz, who wants to punish mankind by ending their world. The same can be said with Yashiro and Chris.

She is not affected greatly with Iori Yagami's interference like Yashiro is.

Gameplay

hermie

When not using her Orochi powers, Shermie relies on grappling as her combat style. Her grappling gameplay is further improved in KOF98, when she's given a follow-up ground attack, similar to Clark's elbow smash. Her grappling gameplay is further expanded in KOF2002, as she borrows some signature moves like Stone Cold Steve Austin's Stonecold Stunner.

KOF2002 made Shermie more visually distracting, as her leotard is made more visually prominent, especially in her knockdown attack, something that could be seen occasionally in some of her grappling moves before.

Orochi Shermie

Orochi Shermie shares some moves from Benimaru. The counterpart theory is further evidenced in her possessing his DM "Raikouken", only titled "Ankoku Raikouken" (Ankoku being "dark") in her version. Unlike Benimaru, Shermie is not capable of altering the direction of it (i.e. she can only perform it forward, while Benimaru can angle it up/forward if desired, Benimaru can also perform the special move version in the air).

In KOF '02, Orochi Shermie has an HSDM called Unmei no Ya (Arrow of Fate), where she will call down a lightning bolt to strike the arena. However, this lightning bolt is erratic--it may strike her opponent, her, or both (as she puts it when beginning the attack, "Let Heaven decide who is to be punished!"--with the machine's random number generator standing in for Heaven.). However, Shermie may roll away just before the lightning strikes and so can her opponent. But her opponent has a very low chance of escape. Chances are if Shermie is able to use the HSDM (i.e. low health), the damage from the lightning bolt will kill her if she gets hit.

Other Appearances
