Vera Bjelik

Vera Bjelik

Vera Bjelik (June 12 1921 – August 25 1944) was a World War II navigator born in Dnipropetrovsk Oblast, Ukraine.

She joined the Red Army in 1941 and became active from May 1942. She died on August 25 1944, aged 23, on active duty, near Ostrołęka, Poland, having completed 813 bombing missions.

Monument

A monument in her honour was built in Kerch where a school is named after her.
