Alex White (born 3 December 1959) is an Irish barrister and politician and member of the 23rd Seanad Éireann for the Labour Party on the Cultural and Educational Panel. White was a student activist in Trinity College Dublin when he was also a member of the League for a Workers Republic, a Trotskyist grouping. He was first elected to South Dublin County Council in 2004, for the Terenure/Rathfarnham ward. He was an unsuccessful candidate in the 2007 general election in the Dublin South constituency, losing by a few dozen votes.

White was nominated as a candidate in 2007 by the Labour Party leadership. He had voted for coalition with Fine Gael in a Labour Party congress (the line of Pat Rabbitte then leader of the party). His election to the Senate has been credited to a voting pact with Sinn Féin. White, when working in RTÉ, the Irish national broadcaster, had been a strong opponent of Section 31, which prevented Sinn Féin members from being heard.
