- Zhu Ziqing
Zhu Ziqing (zh-cp|c=朱自清|p=Zhū Zìqīng;
November 22 ,1898 -August 12 ,1948 ) (birth name: Zhu Zihua zh-cp|c=朱自华|p=Zhū Zìhuá) was a renowned Chinese poet and essayist. Zhu studied atPeking University , and during theMay Fourth Movement became one of several pioneers ofmodernism in China during the 1920s. Later, he was appointed professor of Chinese Literature atTsinghua University in 1925. From 1931 to 1932 he studiedEnglish Literature andLinguistics inLondon .Zhu was a prolific writer of both
prose andpoetry , but is best known for essays like "Retreating Figure" ("Beiying", 《背影》), and "You. Me." ("Ni wo",《你我》). His best known work in verse is the long poem: "Huimie ," (《毀滅》) "Destruction."External links
