Grace M. Davis High School

Grace M. Davis High School is a grades 9-12 high school located in Modesto, California. It was established in 1961. The school mascot is a Spartan. The school colors are green and gold. Davis High School opened in 1961.

Etablished in what was then a rural setting, serving approximately 1800 students from predominantly agricultural based families of north Modesto and Salida. As Modesto and Salida have grown, so has Davis High School. Davis now serves over 3200 students. It is located at 1200 W. Rumble Rd. in Modesto, Ca. Their mascot is the Spartans and their colors are green and gold. Grace M. Davis High is a California distinguished school. Their sports teams first competed in The (CCC) Central California Conference from 1961 to 2004. Now they compete in the newly formed (MMC) Modesto Metro Conference. The Spartans have generally dominated the Modesto high school sports scene especially in football, winning the Modesto city title several times with 2007 being the latest since 2002. The Spartans are the only Modesto high school football team to play for a Sac-Joaquin Section title, losing to Grant High School of Sacramento 23-3 at Modesto Junior College Stadium in 1984. The Spartans athletic teams have won nine Sac-Joaquin Section titles in:

65-66 Individual Wrestling,66-67 Boys Golf,69-70 Boys Golf,74-75 D1 Boys Golf,81-82 D1 Girls Tennis,85-86 D1 Boys Tennis,93-94 D1 Softball,01-02 D1 Boys Track,02-03 D1 Boys Cross Country.

Many famous athletes have attended Grace M. Davis and they include Ray Lankford -Major League Baseball Player for the St. Louis Cardinals and the San Diego Padres, Tisha Venturini -U.S. Women's Soccer player and member of the now defunct San Jose CyberRays of the now defunct United States Women's Soccer League. Also Al Autry who pitched a game for the Atlanta Braves. Recently Ashley Walker of the University of California, Berkeley Golden Bears played Power Forward.
