Our Melbourne

"Our Melbourne" is a half hour television comedy series created in Melbourne, Australia. It first aired on community station Channel 31 on Friday the 20th of July, 2007.

The first season consists of seven episodes, each a TV half hour of about 24 minutes. The show is a narrative based comedy built on the premise of three different commonplace Melbournians being thrust into the spotlight each episode. The three main characters are always played by Ben McEwing, Stefan Taylor and Craig Annis, each taking on a new character every week. The three boys also play the support characters for each storyline. Other young actors have been brought in to fill certain minor roles, and the crew of the show are known to take part in on screen performance.

The main characters are billed as commonplace, but all of them have an ability, quirk or failing that makes them stand out from their peers.

Episodes

Episode 1 – Informers

The new comedy about the people of Melbourne! Bernie is a senile tour guide on his last day of work. Debbie is in the running for Mayor of Frankston. Bevan is a Pastor trying to raise money for the children.

Episode 2 – Winners?

A new mockumentary about the people of Melbourne! Oliverio is trying to go from Chapel Street to Stratford as a performer. Ken is a cricketer who wants more for his kids than he had. Tina is working her way through uni with a private business.

Episode 3 – The Arts

The funny times of real fake Melbournians! Rain is an Irish dancer fighting injustice. Coby doesn’t let his disability get in the way of art. Harry is the smoothest lounge singer around, playing one last tour.

Episode 4 – Time for Change

See the real Melbourne through imagined eyes! Sasha is nature’s child thrust into the big business of poultry. Eric is a troubled kid unaware he needs direction. Clayton is a call centre operator in desperate need of a wake up call.

Episode 5 – Searching for Meaning

Go deep inside Melbourne and make it squeal! Phil is a private investigator searching for a big target. Lu Pong is Viet-Chinese Australian looking for Waltzing Matilda. Adam is British backpacker seeking permanent residence.

Episode 6 – The Ignored

The strange and unknown microcosm of Melbourne! The Great Federici is a long forgotten thespian without boards to tread. Peter the gorilla enjoys the city outside of his enclosure. Sharron the football goes on a quest to relive his muddy, bloody glory days.

Episode 7 – Between the Scenes

The final episode of season one of Our Melbourne! The mockumentarians find themselves the subject of a documentary showing what’s behind the scenes of Our Melbourne. Stefan, Ben and Craig go through the difficult creative process and narrowly avoid criminal sentences.
