William Hasker

William Hasker

R. William Hasker is an American Christian philosopher and professor of Division of Humanities and Bible at Huntington College. He has argued for the acceptance of a number of ideas that would be regarded controversial by certain Christian denominations. To wit, he has supported a position in favor of "Theistic Evolution" and also more well-known, on "Open Theism" as well.

Hasker received his Ph.D. in theology and philosophy of religion from The University of Edinburgh. His 1999 publication "The Emergent Self" discusses the philosophy of mind and attempts to establish that mind cannot be solely a material process but is also not completely distinct from its physical basis in the brain.
