The following is the list of incorporated places in Maryland. Incorporated places are self-governing municipalities chartered as cities, towns or villages by an act of the Maryland General Assembly or, in some cases, by referendum.[In the case of certain villages, the municipal charter was created by a referendum of qualified voters in each respective jurisdiction in accordance with Article 23A, Sections 20 through 30 of the Annotated Code of Maryland.
