The Texas A&M Aggies women's basketball team represents Texas A&M University in NCAA Division I women's basketball. The team is coached by Gary Blair. The Aggies play home games at Reed Arena, a 12,500-capacity arena in College Station, Texas on the campus of Texas A&M University.

In the 2006-07 season, Texas A&M was the only program in the Big 12 Conference to have both men's and women's teams competing in the NCAA Tournament - the men as a 3 seed and the women as a 4 seed.cite web | last = | first = | authorlink = | coauthors = | title = 2007 NCAA Basketball Men's Viewable Brackets | work = | publisher = NCAA | date = 2005-03-11 | url = http://www.ncaasports.com/basketball/mens/brackets/viewable/2007 | format = | doi = | accessdate = 2007-03-13 ] cite web | last = | first = | authorlink = | coauthors = | title = 2007 NCAA Basketball Women's Viewable Brackets | work = | publisher = NCAA | date = 2005-03-12 | url = http://www.ncaasports.com/basketball/womens/brackets/viewable/2007/DI | format = | doi = | accessdate = 2007-03-13 ]

Women's basketball history

Women's basketball at Texas A&M first debuted in the 1974–75 season. In 1994, they went to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA tournament. In 1995, they won the WNIT championship. In 1996, they were the SWC Champions and went to the First Round of the NCAA tournament. Since then, the team had not achieved much notable postseason success until the hiring of Gary Blair before the 2003–04 season. In the 2004–05 season, Blair took his team to the WNIT quarterfinals. In the 2005–06 season, the team advanced to the NCAA First Round. In the 2006–07 season, the team won the Big 12 regular season championship, and advanced to the NCAA Second Round.cite web|url=http://www.aggieathletics.com/index2.php?SID=WBB&pageID=1193|title=Women's Basketball Through the Years|publisher=Texas A&M Athletics|accessdate=2007-11-05] The 2007–08 team finished 8th in the AP Poll, the highest in team history. It also received the highest seed in the NCAA tournament out of all five appearances, and finished in the Elite Eight, the longest NCAA tournament run in history.
