Jeff Lerg (born April 9, 1986 in Livonia, Michigan, U.S.) is currently a goaltender for the Michigan State Spartans of the Central Collegiate Hockey Association. He is the cousin of former teammate Bryan Lerg. He is also currently the shortest player in Collegiate hockey.

Playing career

Prior to his college hockey career, Lerg played for the Omaha Lancers of the USHL. He led the league in shutouts, GAA, wins, minutes played and ranked second in save percentage. Lerg broke the USHL record for wins in a season with 36 in helping lead Omaha to a share of the regular-season title. Lerg joined the Spartans in 2005 and was named CCHA Rookie of the Yearfor his outstanding performance as a freshman. He was a member of Michigan State's 2007 NCAA Championship team where he held a 1.25 GAA and .954 save percentage in the tournament. In 2008, he was selected as a finalist for the James E. Sullivan Award, given to the top amateur athlete in the United States each year. He leads the Spartans as captain in the 2008-2009 season.
