Volleyball at the 2000 Summer Olympics - Women's volleyball

The 2000 Women's Olympic Volleyball Tournament was the tenth edition of the event, organised by the world's governing body, the FIVB in conjunction with the International Olympic Committee. It was held from September 16 to September 30, 2000 in the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Darling Harbour.

Qualification

Australia qualified as the host nation, Cuba (1), Russia (2) and Brazil (3) qualified by finishing in the top-three at the 1999 FIVB Women's World Cup, while Germany (Europe), the United States (NORCECA), Peru (South America) and Kenya (Africa) won their continental qualifying tournament. Italy, South Korea, Croatia and PR China came through by finishing in the top-four at the Women's Olympic Qualifying Tournament, held from June 17 to June 25 in Tokyo, Japan.
