Way Out West is a UK progressive house, trance and progressive breaks group from Bristol, England consisting of producers and DJs Jody Wisternoff and Nick Warren.

Originally named Echo, the name Way out West was coined after one of their remixes. They have produced and performed together for more than 10 years. They released their eponymous debut in 1997; the album spawned the singles "Blue" (a reinterpretation of the theme from the film "Withnail and I"), "Domination", "Ajare", and the UK top 15 hit, "The Gift" (which sampled Joanna Law's version of "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face)".

The release of their second album "Intensify" in 2001 was marked by a move from the defunct Deconstruction Records label to Distinctive Records, and a change in their sound, from club instrumentals and sampled vocals to a mixture of club tracks and original songs. Singles from the album included "Mindcircus", which reached #39 in the UK charts, and the worldwide club hit "Intensify".

Some career highlights include: performing "The Gift" live on "Top of the Pops"; watching "Mindcircus" (the single from their second album, "Intensify") attain worldwide chart success; and supporting UK legends Faithless on a recent world tour.

The duo released their third full length album in 2004, entitled "Don't Look Now", featuring the vocalist Omi on several tracks. This album incorporated more conventional song structures in addition to their drawn-out compositions. The album also included a mix CD, displaying the duo's continued participation in the DJ scene.

Their song "Don't Forget Me" has been featured in Season 2 of "Grey's Anatomy", "Melt" had a dramatic appearance in "The O.C.", and a loop of their song "The Gift" is used for the title theme on the MTV show "True Life".

The song "Anything But You" was featured in the video game Tiger Woods PGA Tour 07.

An edited version of "The Gift" appears on Mtv's True Life.

In the summer of 2006, Jody Wisternoff released a solo work, "Cold Drink, Hot Girl", which was followed up in November 2006 with "Nostalgia". Both singles were critically acclaimed works. 2007 saw the release of Jody's 3rd solo production "Starstrings".

Nick Warren's seventh (a record) Global Underground offering was released in February 2007 and features two mixes inspired by the underground house clubs of Paris, France. Some of the music comes from Bristol label Hope Records, which Nick has recently joined in an A&R capacity. Nick has also been working on some projects of his own including a well received track with American DJ Jimmy Van M called "The one and only".

The duo are hard at work in their studio preparing for album number 4 with "Spaceman" being this first single of the album. The album will be released on Hope Records. Jody and Nick are also pumping up for a live tour later on in the year to promote their new album. There are more remixes in the pipeline — including a potential re-working of the 1960s group The Doors.

In 2008 Way Out West contributed the song "Evelina" to the Survival International charity album, "Songs for Survival".
