1912 in radio

The year 1912 in radio involved some significant events.

Events

* In early 1912, there were two major companies which provided wireless telegraph equipment and operators for ships at sea: The Marconi Company in New York City and Telefunken in Germany. "Browser wars of the wireless telegraphy age" webpage: [http://www.tbtf.com/resource/telegraph-browser-wars.html TBTF-Tele-Wars] .] Ship radio operators were not ship's crew, but employees of Marconi or Telefunken.
* At the time of the "Titanic", Marconi operators did not talk to Telefunken operators, or vice versa, for fear of losing their jobs.
* April 14/15 - The R.M.S. "Titanic", having struck an iceberg at 11:40 p.m., begins sending the new international distress signal S.O.S., as well as the older Marconi distress code, C.Q.D..
