"My Coo Ca Choo" is the first successful release for Alvin Stardust, reaching number two in the UK Singles Chart in December 1973. The glam rock single fared even better in Australia, where it spent seven weeks at the top and was the best charting single in the country in 1974.[citation needed] The song has a similar beat to Spirit In The Sky.

The follow-up single, "Jealous Mind", did well in the UK, where it reached number one in March 1974 for one week, but failed to make the top ten in Australia.
