George Edward Cole (December 23, 1826 - December 3, 1906) was a Delegate from the Territory of Washington.

Born in Trenton (now Trenton Falls), Oneida County, New York, Cole attended the public schools and Hobart Hall Institute.He was employed as clerk in a country store.He moved to Illinois, thence to California in 1849, and later to Oregon Territory in 1850. There served as member of the Oregon House of Representatives in the Oregon Territorial Legislature in 1852 and 1853. He engaged in mercantile pursuits and steamboat transportation on the Willamette River. He served as clerk of the United States District Court of Oregon in 1859 and 1860. He moved to Walla Walla, Washington, in 1860.

Cole was elected as a Democrat to the Thirty-eighth Congress (March 4, 1863-March 3, 1865).He was not a candidate for renomination in 1864.He was appointed Governor of the Territory by President Johnson in November 1866 and served until March 4, 1867.He returned to Portland, Oregon, in 1867, and engaged in railroad construction 1869–1872.He was Postmaster of Portland, Oregon from 1873 to 1881.He moved to Spokane, Washington, in 1889, was Treasurer of Spokane County 1890–1892.He had extensive interests in mining, manufacturing, and farming.He died in Portland, Oregon, December 3, 1906, and was interred in Lone Fir Cemetery.
