Biography

"Early Life"

Josh was born and raised in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, a small town situated along the Beaver River, about thirty miles northwest of Pittsburgh. His strongest childhood memories include caring for a wide variety of family pets and spending time bicycling with his older brother, Jason. Josh and his brother are the only children of his parents, Robert Lee and Rebecca Susan. During his years at Blackhawk High School, Berresford served as Vice President of his sophomore and junior class and as Treasurer of the National Honor Society. Known as the best pitcher in the Pony League, his love of baseball was shared with his enthusiasm for playing golf and tennis. During his last year of high school Berresford found the time to perform in both of his senior plays, his first--and lingering--taste of acting. Berresford attended Robert Morris University in Pittsburgh and graduated with a B.S.B.A. in Communication Management, focusing on Television Production. Discovering that a career in business was not for him, he decided to pursue an acting career. After taking summer conservatory classes at Point Park College in Pittsburgh, Josh auditioned for--and won--his first community theatre role in a play entitled "Big Bucks".

Josh continued to hone his craft. After his move to New York in 2003, he continued his studies at Caymichael Patten Studios and Sande Shurlin Studios. Under the tutelage of Nino Murano and Kathryn Gately, Berresford studied the Sanford Meisner technique. In addition, Josh perfected his improv skills with the Upright Citizens Brigade.
