Ang Kapatiran

Ang Kapatiran (AKP) is a political party in the Philippines, formed in 2004 and unaffiliated with either major coalition in the 2007 elections. It did not participate in the 2004 elections, however. Reynaldo “"Nandy"” Pacheco, is the founder of this party.

Ang Kapatiran fielded three candidates for the Senate in the 2007 elections.

* Zosimo Jesus Paredes II - Former executive director of the Presidential Commission on the Visiting Forces Agreement who resigned at the height of the Philippine government's perceived protection of convicted American rapist Daniel Smith (marine soldier) after the latter's transfer of detention from the Makati City jail to the US Embassy compound. He is also the brother of Ducky and Jim Paredes.

* Dr. Martin Bautista - Gastroenterologist who had spent the last 17 years working in the United States. Last year, he went home for good with his wife and four daughters and was later convinced to run under the AKP ticket.

* Adrian Sison - Seasoned lawyer specializing in taxation and family law.

New officers

On September 26, 2007, Kapatiran named its new officers: Renato H. Peronilla, new president, replacing Mario E. Ongkiko; Manolo K. Dayrit, chair; David S. Lim, vice chair; Benjamin P. de Guzman, vice president; Eric B. Manalang, secretary general; Amador F. Astudillo and Rafael Q. Enriquez, deputy secretary generals, and Ricardo G. Librea, treasurer. Philippine general election, 2010

Church-based political party Kapatiran, led by founder Nandy Pacheco, on October 1, 2008, launched its campaign for Philippine general election, 2010 at Iloilo City at the national convention of the Philippines' Pontifical Council for the Laity. Party president Eric Manalang announced it will field 4,020 candidates, focusing its campaign in 200 towns and cities with the biggest percentage of young voters. Kapatiran fielded 30 candidates in Philippine general election, 2007, but only John Carlos de los Reyes won, as second as Olongapo City councilor. It will placed 200 training centers nationwide.
