The Battle of the Caribbean was fought during World War II (1942-1946). German U-boats attempted to disrupt the Allied supply of oil and other material. They sank shipping in the Caribbean Sea and attacked the oil refinery in Aruba. Improved Allied anti-submarine warfare eventually drove the U-boats out of the Caribbean, resulting in an Allied victory.
