Holland Public Schools is a school district in Holland, Michigan. Founded in 1848, Holland Public Schools has earned state and national recognition for excellence in education. Approximately 314 teachers, with an average of 14 years experience each and most possessing master's degrees, offer our diverse student population solid instruction in core curriculum along with a wide spectrum of other programs, including art, music, athletics, theater, forensics, K-12 Spanish, technology literacy, special education, English as a Second Language, and many extra-curricular activities.

West Middle School: • $50,000 fruit and vegetable grant from USDA • 11th visit since 1996 that students from West have competed and advanced to the Michigan History Day state contest and Nationals • 92 National Fitness Award winners and 8 Presidential Fitness Award winners • Undefeated girls swim team • 12 students awarded the Wade McCree GVSU Scholarship • Regional spelling bee winner moved on to the state competition • “Pi Day” activities planned by the math dept. • 375 students participated in at least one or more sports • MATHCOUNTS competition at GVSU • Career Day with 45 speakers from the Holland community making presentations to students • Successful division ratings by groups and solos at Band, Orchestra, and Choir state competitions

Hallmark Programs

Holland BandsHolland High School's band is known for marching in wooden shoes in parades. Directed by Charles Bullard, the band plays ' [Tiptoe Through The Tulips] ' when marching in the Tulip Time Festival parades. The band has played multiple times in Disneyland in Florida and for other prestigious events.

It features students who think in new and different ways. Holland Public Schools recognizes academic talent within its student population. The district acknowledges that gifted students need support, encouragement, and innovative strategies that motivate them to achieve at their personal best. To help students reach their potential, Holland Public Schools provides challenging opportunities for children in grades 4-8 to excel in a Gifted/Talented program which serves the academic, social, and unique learning needs of highly intelligent youth.

The Vocal DimensionsHolland High School is recognized for its outstanding singing and musically talented students. Vocal Dimensions helps put sixteen individuals on spotlight as they are often known as the best singers at Holland High. Vocals is taught and led by Kerry Daab, who also teaches and directs Concert Choir and Treble Choir at the school. Some acts for the Vocal Dimensions include: The Wooden Shoe-Be-Doo for Tulip Time, The Annual Vocal Dimension Show in March, The Jazz Festival at Forest Hills Northern, and of course the Choir Concerts. They have performed at several other locations too.

Director Kevin Schneider and the theatre team's cast and crew members are working hard to defend their much deserved title.

FLES instruction involves more than Spanish language and cultural lessons, FLES teachers work with classroom teachers to also reinforce key components of the core curriculum in Spanish. It's a win-win for all!
