The Jose J. Leido Jr. Memorial National High School, or LEMNAHIS (short for Leido Memorial National High School), and formerly Oriental Mindoro High School, is the flagship campus and the largest Public High School in Oriental Mindoro. It was established in 1921 and is located in San Vicente East, Calapan City in Oriental Mindoro. It offers high school education from first year to fourth year. The school is headed by its principal, Dr. Donato G. Bueno who also initiated and pursue the name LEMNAHIS at the beginning of his administration in 2001.

Population

Lemnahis caters to a total of 5,264 students of which 1,402 are freshmen, 1,358 are sophomores, 1,246 are juniors and 1,258 are seniors. The students were under the efficient tutelage of 185 teaching staff with the aid of 33 non-teaching personnel within 119 classrooms and 11 hectare enclosed fields.

Education System

Jose J. Leido Jr., Memorial National High School is known for its exemplary performance in the fields of academics and is a one of the leading institutions of secondary learning specializing in Mathematics, Science and Technology, English and Filipino subjects in the Southern Tagalog Region. Its students are known to be one of the toughest in Region IV. Lemnahis is also famous for its good physical education instructors. Lemnahis athletes are a major pride of the school as some of them has already joined and won competitions all over the Philippines and abroad.

Year sections are divided at Jose J. Leido Jr. Memorial National High School between the Special Science Classes (SSC) (also known as the Star Sections) which is composed primarily of academically excellent and intelligent students and the Lower Sections which comprise the majority of the students.

Special Science Classes is Lemnahis' version of the Philippine Science High School's education system due to the absence of the latter's branch in Mindoro. In fact, it actually adopts and conforms with PSHS's standards and Department of Science and Technology has its own building and laboratories inside the campus. Special Science classes generally take two to three additional subjects such as Advanced Journalism, Elective Science, or a course in Research in addition to the normal subjects normally taken by ordinary average students in lower sections. Honor students are also being selected from the Special Science classes.

From years 1995-2002, Special Science Classes are limited to only four sections per year level. The format of the SSC section names were the following:

* First Year: I-SSC-A, I-SSC-B, I-SSC-C and I-SSC-D
* Second Year: II-SSC-A, II-SSC-B, II-SSC-C and II-SSC-D
* Third Year: III-SSC-A, III-SSC-B, III-SSC-C and III-SSC-D
* Fourth Year: IV-SSC-A, IV-SSC-B, IV-SSC-C and IV-SSC-D

However, due to the growing number of students, Lemnahis has increased the number of special science sections and as of 2008 Faculty and Students interview, there are seven SSC sections for freshmen and sophomores, five for juniors and four for seniors.
