Bhalwal is a town of Sargodha District in the centre of the Punjab province of Pakistan [ [http://www.statpak.gov.pk/depts/pco/statistics/admin_unit/admin_list_tehsil.html List of Tehsils and districts of Pakistan - Statpak.gov.pk] ] . The town of Bhalwal is the headquarters of Bhalwal Tehsil and lies in an agricultural area, close to the M-2 motorway, to which it is being connected by two interchanges. The town is named after a nearby village called Purana Bhalwal (Old Bhalwal),the name of Bhalwal is originated from Bhalwana.Bhalwana is one the most famous family of Bhalwal.Bhalwana family is landlord family of Purana Bhalwal.Fact|date=July 2007 Bhalwal is the city of oranges(Mandrain).Fact|date=October 2007 There are almost 150 orange processing plants.Fact|date=October 2007

Bhalwal town is located on Gujrat Phalia – Sargodha road at a distance of 30 km from Sargodha at its north. It is situated near motorway (M2) in the west at a distance of 11 km from Salam interchange. Lower Bhalwal Canal is passing at its north side at a distance of 3 km. It also lies on SargodhaMalikwalLalamusa section of Pakistan Railway and has a railway station.

Local government

TMA Bhalwal is one of six TMAs of Sargodha District. Bhalwal is the main town of the TMA. There are 31 Union Councils in the Tehsil out of which 8 fall in urban areas/CO units. According to the 1998 Census the total population and urban population of the Tehsil is 819,887 and 132,600 respectively.

Bhalwal tehsil is governed by a tehsil council which comprises the chief officials of the various Union Councils (UC).
