Sodium-iodide symporter

Function

Mechanism

The pump symports two sodium ions for every iodide ion. This symporter is driven by low internal sodium concentration in the thyroid epithelial cells, via facilitated diffusion, caused by the sodium/potassium ATPase pump.

Inhibitors
