Hail, Pennsylvania!

"Hail, Pennsylvania!" written by Edgar M. Dilley in 1897, was the official state song of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Eddie Khoury and Ronnie Bonner's "Pennsylvania" superseded "Hail, Pennsylvania!" as Pennsylvania's official state song in 1990.

"Hail, Pennsylvania!" is sung to the tune of "God Save the Tsar!", the national anthem of Imperial Russia, by Alexei Fyodorovich Lvov. It is the alma mater of the University of Pennsylvania; it also serves as the official song of Lackawanna County. It was supposedly written by Dilley during a competition among students at the university to see who could write the best song to the Tsarist anthem.
