Llewellyn Baronets

Llewellyn Baronets

There have been two Baronetcies created for persons with the surname Llewellyn, both in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom. One creation is extinct or dormant while one is still extant.

The Llewellyn Baronetcy, of Bwllffa, Aberdare, in the County of Glamorgan, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 31 January 1922 for David Llewellyn, a Welsh industrialist. He was notably Chairman of Welsh Associated Collieries. His second son, the third Baronet (who succeeded his elder brother), was a well-known equestrian. As of 2007 the title is held by the latter's eldest son, the fourth Baronet, who succeeded in 1999.

Roddy Llewellyn, second son of the third Baronet and younger brother of the fourth Baronet, is a landscape gardener, gardening journalist, author and television presenter. Also, the Conservative politician Sir David Llewellyn was a younger son of the first Baronet and the younger brother of the second and third Baronets.

The Llewellyn Baronetcy, of Baglan in the County of Glamorgan, was created in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom on 20 January 1959 for Sir Godfrey Llewellyn. He was later President of the National Union of Conservative and Unionist Associations. His son, the second Baronet, served as Lord Lieutenant of West Glamorgan from 1987 to 1994. On his death in 1994 the baronetcy became extinct or dormant.
