George Montagu, 8th Duke of Manchester

George Victor Drogo Montagu, 8th Duke of Manchester, etc (London, 17 June 1853 – Tandragee Castle, County Armagh, 18 August 1892), known as Lord Kimbolton from 1853 to 1855 and as Viscount Mandeville from 1855 to 1890, was a British peer and Member of Parliament.

Manchester was the son of William Drogo Montagu, 7th Duke of Manchester, and Louisa Montagu, Duchess of Manchester. He married at New York City, New York, 22 May 1876 María Consuelo Yznaga del Valle (Natchez, 1858 – London, 20 November 1909), daughter of "don" Antonio Yznaga del Valle and wife. María Consuelo Yznaga del Valle, a childhood friend of Alva Belmont with grand Cuban-Spanish relations, as her resolved to try to marry a rich man, joining New York's belle underground of girls from good Southern families ruined by the Civil War who married New York bankers, brokers, and merchants. The technique was for a well-connected female friend to introduce the young woman to a suitable match. She was such a presenter of her friend. They had a son and twin daughters, Lady Jaqueline Mary Alva Montagu (d. 15 March 1895) and Lady Alice Eleanor Louise Montague (d. 10 January 1900).

In 1877 he was elected to the House of Commons for Huntingdonshire, a seat he held until 1880. Apart from his political career he also achieved the rank of Captain in the Royal Irish Fusiliers.

In 1890 succeeded his father in the dukedom and took his seat in the House of Lords.He died in August 1892, aged only 39, and was succeeded in his titles by his son William.
