Adam Zwar (born in Cairns, Queensland) is an Australian actor, voice artist and writer.

Career

Adam Zwar co-wrote and co-starred in the AFI award-winning series "Wilfred" for SBS as well as the soon to be released feature film, "Rats and Cats", which premiered to sell-out audiences and critical acclaim at the 2006 Melbourne International Film Festival. In 2006 and 2007, he teamed-up with Oscar winner Geoffrey Rush to write the AFI Awards screened on the Nine Network. His plays include "Kissing for Australia", "Primrose Hill", "The Inner Sanctum" and "The Fall and Fall of Jeremy Hawthorn". Adam's recent acting credits include the Network Ten crime drama "Rush", the SBS series "Carla Cometti PD" the ABC telemovie, "Valentine's Day", the SBS comedy "Bogan Pride" and the crime drama "Underbelly", for Channel Nine. In 2007, he won the AFI Award for Best Actor in a Television Comedy for his work in "Wilfred".

Zwar's other screen-acting credits include both series of the Network Ten sketch comedy series "The Wedge", "Blue Heelers", "Stingers", "CrashBurn", "SeaChange", "BackBerner" and "MDA". His stage-acting credits include "Kissing for Australia", for which he received a Green Room Award nomination, and "Cyrano de Bergerac" for the Melbourne Theatre Company. He has appeared in such commercials as HBA's Free for Free campaign, VB, Radio Rentals and Boag's Draught. Currently, he is the voice of Australia Post. Other ads he has recently voiced include the "Herald Sun", Honda, HBA, Boag's and RACV.

Early life

Adam grew up in Carins, Queensland. His parents bought the family home from actor Leo McKern. He is the son of author Desmond Zwar, who wrote the best selling book "The Loneliest Man in the World" about Nazi prisoner, Rudolf Hess. And his mother, Delphine, was a long time writer for "House and Garden" magazine.Fact|date=March 2007

Adam is married to Amanda Brotchie, the AFI award winning filmmaker.
