Žarko Laušević

Žarko Laušević

Žarko Laušević (Serbian Cyrillic: Жарко Лаушевић) (born 19 January 1960 in Cetinje, Montenegro, Yugoslavia) is a Montenegrin actor.

Roles and career

He graduated from the Belgrade Theatrical Arts Academy and played in Serbian theatre and all of old Yugoslavia's movies.

Personal life

In the early morning hours of Saturday July 31, 1993, Žarko Laušević and his brother Branimir got involved in a street brawl with locals in and around fast food kiosk/restaurant called 'Apple' in Podgorica, Montenegro. During the vicious fight that soon developed, Žarko fired his CZ-99 gun killing Dragor Pejović and Radovan Vučinić and also wounding Andrija Kazić.

In 1994, he was sentenced to five years in prison for double murder, but then was released on two and a half for good behavior. (prosecutor wanted death penalty).

In March 1998, Žarko was, on a repeated trial, found guilty for double murder by the Supreme Court of the Republic of Montenegro but the conclusion was that he did it in self defense. He was released from jail the following day.
