Sharon Veronica LaFraniere (born June 15, 1955 in Detroit, Michigan) is an American journalist who has covered southern Africa for "The New York Times" since 2003.

LaFraniere previously wrote for "The Washington Post" from Moscow.

As well, her other billets at the "Post" include:
* investigative reporter in the Metro section
* investigative reporter on the National staff
* acting deputy national editor
