Samir Brikho

Samir Brikho

Summary

Samir Brikho was appointed Chief Executive of AMEC plc as of October 1, 2006, replacing former CEO Sir Peter Mason.

Since assuming his role at AMEC, Brikho has spearheaded a widely reported and rapid turnaround of the company’s performance. In 2007 the company posted interim pre-tax profits 127% higher than the previous year, and exited from its construction activities through the divestment of a series of non-core businesses. He has been credited with delivering £40 million of annually recurring benefits through an efficiency and cost-control programme called STEP Change, ahead of expectation and schedule.

In his first year as Chief Executive, AMEC’s share price increased by 99%, resulting in the company entering the FTSE100 in December 2007, and outperforming any other member of that index, according to the Sunday Telegraph. At the same time the company stock was relisted from Support Services to the Oil Equipment and Services sector.

Brikho is currently leading a comprehensive business optimisation programme called Operational Excellence which, along with a series of strategic acquisitions, is aimed at enhancing the company's margins.

Listed on the London Stock Exchange (LSE: AMEC) and with annual revenues in excess of £2.3 billion, Amec plc provides high-value consultancy, engineering and project management services to the world’s energy, power and process industries. Amec designs, delivers and maintains strategic and complex assets for its clients through its three divisions; Natural Resources, Power & Process and Earth & Environmental. The company employs more than 23,000 people in over 30 countries.

Prior to his role at AMEC, Brikho was a member of the Group Executive Committee of ABB Ltd., Switzerland, Head of the Power Systems Division and Chairman of ABB Lummus Global.

Since 1983, he has held various senior management positions at ABB and Alstom in Sweden, Dubai, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and France.
