Chawa is a very old village in Bhalwal Tehsil near the town of Bhera, Sargodha District, Pakistan. It is located at 30°59'0N 72°54'0E with an altitude of 153 metres (505 feet).[1] The Bhalwana and Gondal are the main families of this village.

The first district Nazim of Sargodha Malik Amjad Ali Noon was from a village named Ali Pur Noon. Chawa is a village nearby it. Chawa is not very famous because it is not an advanced village it is a backward village. Chawa produces a plant which is used in making of colour paints.

RANJHA FAMILY LIVING IN CHAWA

A small number of Ranjha families living in above village came in from settlements on the banks of Chenab River, during 14th Century. Head of this family was Hafiz Khair Din Ranjha. They started teaching and preaching of Islam to Bhalwana and Gondal main families already living in the village.

Ranjha family had small agriculture land, sufficient for their living. Lately, with the passage of time, when the family expanded, they started to get normal education and joined as teachers and the then British Army and now Pakistan Army. Some of them who joined British Army and took part in First Word War of 1914 and Second Word War of 1939-1945 are listed below:- First and Second Word War Dafadar Mian Dost Mohammad First Word War. He took part in War in Cavalry Regiment on various fronts. He bought his horse with him while on leave In the Village.

Sepoy Mian Ghulam Ali.  He was a free-lancer and honorary sepoy employed by British Govt to provide Recruits to various Recruiting Offices. He continued this duty after partition and provided Recruits to Pakistan Army in return some token money was paid to him. I was one of beneficiaries as he recruited me through Recruiting Officer.
Dafadar Saif Ullah Khan. 19 Lancers.  Participated in World War at various fronts in sub-continent and also In Iran and Iraq as Military Transport NCO on British supply line to Russia.
 Jamadar Sheikh Abdullah. 6 Lancers. Participated in World War at various fronts in sub-continent. Was retired as Jamadar, highest rank in our community. 

Subedar Maqbool Ahmad. Cavalry Regiment. Also participated in World War at various fronts in sub-continent. After partition he was promoted to Jamadar and later transferred to Army Education Corps as Education JCO. He was retired as Subedar. Signalman Masoom Ali Khan. Royal Signals. He participated on World War on Burma Front and became POW and held by Japanese. Later he joined Azad Hind Faun organized by Sobhash Chander Bose and fought against British Indian Army. Again became POW and was sent to Multan Jail till. Was released after creation of Pakistan. Naik Muhammad Yousaf. He took part in 2nd Word War at various fronts in India and in Desert War between British and German forces in Egypt. Was awarded bravery award. Also served In Pakistan Army and retired while posted at Peshawar. Naik Muhammad Zubair. Remained as Education Instructor in MATC (Muttra Artillery Centre and left Army after creation of Pakistan.

Dafadar Mian Sher Ali.  He served in Armed Corps and was dismissed from service. He again joined Boarder Security Force and was discharged. Later he joined Wild Life and was successful.  He had great success in his carrier and was retired as DG Wild Life.

Pakistan Army

Subedar Major Amir Hamza. He started his carrier from Punjab Regiment as a Clerk GD and reached to the highest rank among our family.  After retirement he served in Fauji Textile Mills Jhelum and later on in Lawrence College as accountant. Now he is enjoying retired life in Bhalwal.
Subedar Amir Abdullah Khan.  Started his carrier from Army Apprentice School and was later transferred to Army Engineer Corps. He remained posted at various stations and reached his present rank.  After retirement he joined Fauji Foundation Hospitals and was retired from Rawalpindi. He is now enjoying retired life in Lahore.
Naib Subedar Zafar Ullah Khan. Details given in this article.
Naib Subedar Abdul Rasool. Joined Army Clerical Corps and remained posted at various stations and Retired in above rank.

Dafadar Major Mushtaq Ahmad. Joined 6 Lancer and remained posted at various stations and retired in the above rank.

Havaldar Amir Khalid. Joined Artillery as Clerk GD and remained posted at various stations. After completion of service retired in above ranks and is now settled on his lands in Sindh.

Havildar Muhammad Akbar. Joined EME as Store man Technical. Remained posted at various stations and was retired in above rank. Now enjoying retired life and settled in Bhalwal. Havildar Riaz Ahmad. He joined EME as auto electrician and remained posted at various stations. Naik Muhammad Aslam. He served in Army and retired. Now performing the duties in Bank Vans carrying cash.

Sepoy Muhammad Iqbal. Joined Armed Corps and remained at few stations. Died at very young age.

Sepoy Muhammad Ishaq. Joined Pakistan Army and remained posted at various stations. Remained POW in India after 1971 War. Came back to Pakistan and was discharged from service,

Sepoy Muhammad Asghar. Joined Infantry Regiment and embarrassed Shahadat while posted at Shia chine Glacier.

Muhammad Ajmal. Joined EME and was transferred to reserve. He joined Muslim Commercial Bank and remained posted at various stations. Retired as Manager. Muhammad Anwar. Joined EME and was discharged on medical grounds. Cook Unit Muhammad Mansha. Retired in this rank and is now settled in Bhalwal. Pakistan Air Force

Sgt Abdul Majeed. Joined PAF as GCI and remained posted at various training institutions as Instructor.  Died while posted at Murree due to heart attack.

Civil Services

Bashir Ahmad. BA. B.Ed. Served in various Govt Schools and retired after serving as Head Master Govt High School Bhalwal. Enjoying retired life and is settled in Bhalwal. Munshi Fazal Ahmad Primary School Teacher before and after in various School.

.Aman Ullah Khan SV Teacher. Remained employed in various Govt Primary and High Schools and retired.

Ihsan Ahmad JV Teacher. Served as Primary teacher in Govt Primary School Chawa and Noon Sugar Mills Bhalwal. Now enjoying retired life and is settled in Bhalwal/

Muhammad Aslam  BA. B.Ed. MA Urdu/Punjabi. Although he was highly qualified and suitable for an executive post, he us serving as Primary Schools Teacher and is still serving.
Saif ur Rehman M.Sc. Math/M.Ed.  Remained employed in various Middle and High Schools and various Executive Posts and is still in service.

Khaliq Dad Khan Advocate BA. LLB. Join Pakistan Navy and later on got discharged. He is now practicing Law in Bhalwal Courts and also delivers lectures on Law in various Private Law Colleges at Sargodha. Settled in Bhalwal. Ehzaz ul Hasan XEN WAPDA. Served at various stations and finally retired. Is settled in Lahore and enjoying retired life. Arshad Ullah CA Muhammad Akram Advocate MA LLB Inspector Anti-Narcotics®. Is practicing Law in Islamabad Courts and settled in Islamabad. Ikram Ullah MSc Agriculture. Remained employed in Pakistan as Advisor and immigrated to Canada with his family and is settled there. Zahid Abdullah MA English. He is disabled and is working in an NGO in Islamabad.. Hamid Ulla Bandar BA. Worked in various fields and is now In charge of Accounts of Preparatory School Islamabad (PSI). Shuja Ullah Yasar BA Fine Arts. A free-lancer in Arts activities. Suhail Abdullah BA Fine Arts. Is working on various international and national projects. Zeeshan Abdullah BBA. He is also working on various projects. Tariq Mahmood Flying Officer PAF and Captain PIA.. Started his carrier in PAF as GD Pilot and later joined and is still working in Civil Aviation Authority. Officers Air Commodore Tahir Majid Started his carrier also as GD Pilot and remained employed on various aero planes at various stations. Colonel Mahmood Iqbal. Served in various units and installations. After retirement is now employed in NADRA. Wing Cmdr Muhammad Sami – Qaidiani Served in PAF at various positions and is now retired in this rank. Is living in F10 Islamabad and has landed property in Chawa. Major Saad. Azmat Ullah Babar BSc Textile, McS D. Worked in Sapphire Group as textile engineer. Was selected in PAF and granted commission as Flt Lt after passing out parade. Later left PAF and is now working in Sunairi Exchange Company as Manager. Being educated family they are respected among the masses living in CHAWA village. Another young disable person Mr. Zahid Abdullah has a great name. A tribute Ranjha Zahid and Aqeel is available on internet. Also pasted in his family tree card in Notes. Most of the family later dispersed in other nearby villages i.e. Mithalak, Moazamabad, Liliani, Kaleka, Noor Khanewala, Chak Ramdas and Kot Hakim Khan. A branch of the family headed by Maulvi Nizam Din Adhrema, later converted to Ahmadi Sect and settled in various cities. The last known member of this family is Wing Comdr Muhammad Sami who has landed property in Chawa. These notes have been prepared by Zafar Ullah Khan, based on his personal knowledge and memories
