Rubén Darío Insúa (born 1961, in Buenos Aires) is an Argentine football coach and former player. He played for the Argentine national team a number of times.

Playing career

Insúa played most of his career in the Argentinean top league. He also played in Barcelona de Guayaquil and Deportivo Cali. He had a spell with Spanish side UD Las Palmas.

Titles and Awards as a player

Insúa was part of the Independiente team that won the 1988/1989 Primera.

As a player, Insúa was regarded as a swift midfielder with an excellent touch for free kicks. This quality gained him his nickname of "Poeta del Gol" (Poet of the Goal).

Managerial career

Insúa was the coach of San Lorenzo de Almagro winning the Mercosur Cup in 2001. He also successfully coached Barcelona de Guayaquil reaching the Ecudoarian Championship in 1997 and the Libertadores Cup finals in 1998.
