Phyleus

Phyleus

In Greek mythology, Phyleus was a son of King Augeas of Elis and father of Meges. He supported Heracles instead of his father (in the matter of the Augean Stables) and was exiled. After Heracles killed Augeas, he gave Phyleus the kingdom. But according to other versions, Phyleus fled his homeland and led a colony of Epeans to the island of Dulichium. Thus, his son led the contingent from Dulichium to the Trojan War.

This same Phyleus is also featured in another Greek myth. Timandra, a daughter of Tyndareus of Sparta, committed adultery with Phyleus and deserted her husband Echemus.
