Banpresto Originals Technology

Banpresto Originals Technology

This article is about fictional technology from the Banpresto Original Generation universe of the Super Robot Wars metaseries.

Black Hole Engine

An experimental energy system, created with Extra-Over Technology, the Black Hole Engine has energy cycling through it in an inexhaustible form, thus, a perfect power supply for mobile weapons. However, due to the infamous Vanishing Trooper Incident at Mao Industries, official research into this technology is put on hold.

Shu Shirakawa took the research and continued to work with it, eventually using it on his Granzon to produce its most powerful weapon, the Black Hole Cluster. As such, it is one of the most powerful humanoid-shaped weapon Earth has produced.

Boost Drive

Like the Tesla Drive, the Boost Drive also gives a mecha the ability to fly. However, this piece of equipment is developed by Isurugi Industries, rather than the Tesla Leicht Institute, and was intended for the Rangzer X fighter jet to use. Instead, the Boost Drive saw utilization for the Neo Divine Crusaders and their Lion units. With the Boost Drive, a mecha can accelerate to greater speeds than the Tesla Drive.

Colossal Blade

Also known as the nihongo|Zankantō|斬艦刀|Ship Cutting Blade, the Colossal Blade is a giant sword created for the use of Sanger Zonvolt and his mecha. There are 3 known types of the Colossal Blade:

*The "Type-0 Colossal Blade" for the Grungust Type-0 was 82 metres in length, with thrusters installed in several parts of the back end of the sword, giving Sanger better control with the Type-0, it is the smallest colossal blade made.

*The "Thrudgelmir Colossal Blade" for the Thrudgelmir is part of the machine's being. A portion of the shoulder, a larger central spike and two smaller spikes, separate to form the hilt, the handle is created from the bottom, and then the blade forms on top, unlike the steel grey of the normal Colossal blade, this one is resolutely blue in colour. The blade is made of Machine-Cells enhanced liquid memory metal, same material the Type-3 Colossal Blade it is originated from is made of. This sword is unique because it also possesses an alternate form, one where the blade is entirely made of pure energy. The length of the weapon is unknown as in its appearances it looks endless in length, but it is far greater than either of the other two, able to destroy entire sections of the surrounding landscape in one swing.

*The "Type-3 Colossal Blade" for the Grungust Type-3, in the form of a katana, also uses liquid memory metal, and can take multiple forms. Its basic shape is a katana, and Sanger's techniques use it as a scimitar-shaped sword and a gigantic broadsword. When Sanger activates the Dygenguard, due time restrain and urgency, Jonathan Kazahara reprograms its OS to exclude the built-in weapons in favour of the DML-friendly Type-3 Colossal Blade.

Direct Motion Link System/Direct Feedback System

Similar to the Mobile Trace System from Mobile Fighter G Gundam, the Direct Motion Link System uses a pilot's physical movement to control the machine equipped with this system, allowing greater maneuverability and techniques that a normal mecha would not be able to perform. Thus far, only known 3 units are equipped with the system: the Dygenguard, the RaiOh, and the DaiRaiOh. However, in one episode of the animated , the Valsione also appears to have a similar version of the Direct Motion Link System, which would explain how its human-like face can mimic the facial expressions of its pilot. Super Robot Wars Original Generations confirms the Valsione uses a form of the Direct Motion Link System, suggesting a retcon of the machine's original piloting system.

The Direct Feedback System functions similar to the Direct Motion Link System, but installed only in the Soulgain and the Vaisaga. While its properties are never fully explained, it is suggested the Direct Feedback System powers the machine through the pilot's emotions, converting it into energy for offensive purposes.

Familiars

Similar to the funnels of Mobile Suit Gundam fame, Familiars account for several different semi-autonomous drones utilized by various mecha. Some, like the Vaikul's Kanaf Slaves and the AS Alegrías' Servants, are purely mechanical, while others, like the Cybuster's High Familiars or the Dis Astranagant's Gun Familiars, are partially mystically powered.

Fulcanelli Engine

GEIM System

Developed by Divine Crusaders scientist, Dr. Adler Koch, the GEIM System raises a pilot's overall abilities and combative skills to a significant degree. However, the system is known to cause an overload to the pilot's mind, notably if their consciousness is weak, rendering the pilot vulnerable to outbursts of uncontrollable rage and loss of instinct. The first use of the GEIM System was installed in the Valsion Custom in . In Neo Divine Crusaders Agilla Setme redesigns the system for the Rapiéçage, allowing the system to be more bearable for the pilot, though extreme mental conditioning is still required in order to handle it to the fullest.

Gravicon System

The Gravity Control System is, as the name suggest, a gravity controller. A gravitational field spreads out in front of a unit equipped with this device, and thanks to this, a defensive "Gravity Wall" allows damage dealt to the unit to be minimized or absorbed by the Gravity Wall.Powerful enough units are equipped with a G(Gravity)-Territory, a stronger barrier than the Gravity Wall, but it needs more power to work. The Huckebein MK II is one unit that carries the Gravicon System.

Jacket Armor

Jacket Armor is a special type of armor plating placed all around a unit. It is designed to either replace normal armor or be built over it. Though the use of Jacket Armor seems somewhat useless, as any mecha with excess armor loses mobility, it can be "purged" as a means to increase movement capabilities, allowing the pilot to perform better maneuvers and surprise enemies with its sudden boost in speed. Only the Wild Wurger and R-Blade Custom are equipped with Jacket Armor.

LIOH System

Short for Lead Innovative Organic Harmony, the LIOH System was introduced by Minaki Tomine's father, Kaoru Tomine, who wanted to create a world where the perfect soldier could exist to fight, and so, developed the LIOH System. What this piece of technology does is pump large, unspecified amounts of adrenaline into the human body, thereby enhancing the pilot's performance in combat. The known side effects to this system is an uncontrollable outburst of rage from the pilot, causing the user to go berserk, and unable to differentiate from friend and foe. The only units to be equipped with this system are the RaiOh and DaiRaiOh.

Machine Cells

Similar to the DG Cell nanotechnology imbedded into the Devil Gundam in Mobile Fighter G Gundam, Machine Cells are self-replicating, self-regenerating nanomachines. If injected into an organic body, Machine Cells extend its longevity by a large factor. These nanomachines can also be injected into technological matter, enhancing and transforming them into more powerful machines, along with the ability to regenerate damaged mechanical parts. The Thrudgelmir is one mecha that is infused with Machine Cells.

Nendō Field

The Nendō Field is a psychic field generated by the T-Link System. This field of energy can be used both offensively, as an added power to a mecha's weaponry, and defensively, as a barrier to minimize damage from enemy attacks. The SRX is one machine that generates a Nendō Field. In the North American localization of , it would be renamed the "Telekinetic Field" (its literal translation) or "TK Field".

Omni Dendro Encephalon System

Typically referred to as the ODE System, the system, as presented in OVA, began life as a concept developed by EOTI Institute professor and Divine Crusaders collaborator, Dr. Wilhelm von Juergen, during the L5 Campaign, as part of the institute's basal research program. Though the system was originally designed for networking (possibly unmanned) mobile weapons, such as the specially-designed VTX-001 Bartoll concept, the death of the professor's wife and child during an Aerogater attack led Juergen to drastically redesign the system, to rely on captured human beings to derive data from Juergen's rationalization, being that if the ODE System was used to forcibly unite the minds of all humanity, future conflicts would not cause the same sort of suffering he had experienced.

After the war, Juergen brought the revised ODE System and the VTX-001 concept to Wong Heavy Industries, where design and mass production took place, following the appearance of the Inspectors in . In the events of the OVA, the Bartolls immediately began to proliferate in massive numbers following their introduction, and only a decisive strike by the Earth Federation upon the Bartolls' main line of self-production would bring the process to a halt, killing the already-absorbed Professor von Juergen in the process.

A massive amount of data is released into the ODE System, following Juergen's death. The system's next step toward advancement in development could not be determined, causing it to enter a suspended state. All Bartoll units immediately deactivated, save one Bartoll unit.

In Super Robot Wars Original Generations, the data regarding the ODE System fell under the care of Duminuss, the main antagonist of Super Robot Wars Reversal, after Professor von Juergen is killed. Duminuss later abandons the ODE System, claiming inferiority and obsolencence. Shortly after Duminuss itself was destroyed, the system's fate is unknown.

Ochstan Launcher/Ochstan Rifle

Known in the North American localization as the "Oxtongue Rifle", the Ochstan Launcher is an experimental weapon, capable of rapidly switching between solid and beam ammunition for long-range combat. The original, utilized by the Weiss Ritter, is capable of charging its beam energy or utilizing sustained streams while its solid ammunition is capable of semi-automatic fire. A second, more compact and enhanced unit, known as the Ochstan Rifle (in localized versions, it retains the "Oxtongue Rifle" monniker), is utilized by the Wild Falken, which generally fires its beam energy in full-automatic mode, and its solid ammunition contains a higher rate of semi-automatic fire, making it more powerful than the original.

However, the Ochstan Launcher would be mutated during the Weiss Ritter's transformation into the Rein Weiss Ritter. Its pilot, Excellen Browning, dubs this new weapon the "Howling Launcher", but unlike the original, the Howling Launcher can transform into a three-barreled weapon, allowing for three energy beams to be fired simultaneously.

"Ochstan" is German for "lance", in reference to the weapon's resemblance to a polearm.

Prana Converter

A special equipment that only mecha from La Gias (like the Cybuster) have, a Prana Converter allows the pilot to the channel his/her prana energy to the unit, giving full control and synchronization over it. The equipment also converts some of the energy into the unit itself, temporarily providing additional power and boosts in abilities.

elf-Regeneration System

The Self-Regeneration System is a system installed to a unit that gives it the ability to repair minimal damage using nanotechnology, thus increasing its survival rate and longetivity in battle. The Cybuster is one machine equipped with this system.

pirit Dependency Link

A special system that only mecha from La Gias (like the Cybuster) have, a Spirit Dependency Link allows the elemental spirit guardian of the machine to possess the pilot, boosting the performance levels of the unit and its pilot at the same time.

ystem XN

Designed and developed by Guiliam Jeager, the System XN is a dimensional warp device, capable of sending its user to another dimension/universe. The first System XN is installed in Guiliam's original Gespenst Type-R in Hero Senki: Project Olympus, which later evolves into the XN Geist. However, through the game's events, Guiliam is sent to another universe, against his will by his own device, ending up in multiple dimensions, before landing in the Shadow-Mirror universe. Here, he constructs two new System XN devices, codenamed "Lykeios" and "Aguieus". However, in order for them to function properly, a living core is required, in which Guiliam is one, used as a fail-safe to keep the System XN from being excessively abused by anyone.

The Aguieus is installed in Vindel Mauser's Zweizergain, while the Lykeios unit transports the Shadow-Mirror army into the Original Generation universe. The Lykeios is later destroyed after Axel Almer made his exit from the Shadow-Mirror universe, and the Aguieus destroyed, upon sending the Original Generation protagonists out from Einst space at the end of .

T-Link System

Created by Dr. Kenzo Kobayasahi, the Telekinesis-Link System, or T-Link System, can only be utilized by Psychodrivers. The system allows a Psychodriver to use the energies in their psychic abilities to power up both the on-board weapons on the machines they pilot and the machines themselves. The T-Link System also amplifies the user's psychic powers (to a degree) and is known to draw other Psychodrivers to them, similar to the Psycommu and Psycoframe systems in the Mobile Suit Gundam franchise. The R-3 and the Huckebein MK III are examples of mecha that use the T-Link System. In addition, the SRX Development Project made heavy use of T-Link technology and Psychodrivers -- two of the three SRX Team pilots, as well as the pilot of the R-Gun Powered, are all Psychodrivers.

Tesla Drive

Created by the scientists from the Tesla Leicht Institute, a Tesla Drive gives a mecha the ability to fly. Normally, ground-based mecha would not be capable of flight status, but this booster equipment makes it possible for all mecha. Cheap to manufacture, most Banpresto Original units are equipped with a Tesla Drive, such as the Weiss Ritter and the mass-produced Lions of the Divine Crusaders. A more powerful Twin Tesla Drive was created in , though the only units to carry this equipment are the Calion and the Astelion.

Though they have yet to make an appearance in the Original Generation timeline, the Altairion, Vegalion and the AS Alegrías are also equipped with Twin Tesla Drives.

Time Flow Engine

Created by Fel Gureden, the father of Raul Gureden and Fiona Gureden, the Time Flow Engine is the device that powers the Excellence machine. How this device operates and what energy source it utilizes is still unknown, but what is known is that it has the ability to create a portal that can send its user to an undisplaced location either back or forward in time. This feature happens only in Super Robot Wars Reversal; in Super Robot Wars Original Generations, the Time Flow Engine can send its user to a different dimension. Whether it can be utilized for time-travel in the Original Generation universe remains to be seen.

In Original Generations, Guiliam Jeager states the Time Flow Engine could have been inspired by the functions of the System XN, which works solely as a dimension-traveling device.

Its original name is the "Time Turbine Engine" in Reversal.

Tronium Engine

When a substance was discovered inside Meteor-3, it was highly unstable, ten times more radioactive than uranium and able to produce phenomenal amounts of energy. This material would be called Tronium, and the Tronium Engine is the result of research and development on the use of it. The first instance for the use of the Tronium Engine is the planned SRX Development Project, intended for the SRX to utilize. Later, the Space Noah-Class battleship Hagane is fitted with a Tronium-powered buster cannon on the bow of the ship.

Uranus System

A backup T-Link System installed in several Personal Troopers, the Uranus System activates when the pilot's mind is under extreme stress. When activated, it greatly amplifies the machine's reaction times and combat potential, at the cost of further straining the pilot's telekinetic powers, to the point where it can cause a mental collapse and cripple their psychic abilities. The Uranus System is first introduced in Super Robot Wars Alpha, as a system installed in the Huckebein MK III and the R-1. In Super Robot Wars Alpha 3, the Uranus System in the R-1 backfires, leading to the temporary loss of pilot Ryusei Date's Psychodriver abilities. It is also installed in Ryoto Hikawa's Huckebein MK III L in

W-I3NK System

Short for Warfare Information Integrated Inter-Nurval and Kinetic, the W-I³NK System is a unique Man-Machine Interface exclusively available to the Fairlion. It utilizes Shine Hausen's precognitive ability and Latune Subbota's piloting skill, enabling both to remotely control one another's Fairlion unit. In most cases, it is designed so that Latooni, being the veteran pilot, can help control the rookie pilot-princess' unit, once Shine identifies the source of the attack. When the two perform their combination attack, the Royal Heartbreaker, it can be observed from their battle dialogue that Shine actually passes control over to Latooni.
