- Massively multiplayer online first-person shooter
Massively multiplayer online first-person shooter (MMOFPS) is a sub-category of the
massively multiplayer online game (MMOG)Internet computer game genre , which combinesfirst-person shooter -style gameplay with the game design elements that typify the MMOG genre; namely, a persistent world populated by a large number of concurrent players, and in-depth player character progression mechanics. MMOFPS development is dilatory due to the many variables involved with the genre. Compromising balance between financial support, bandwidth and the demanding framerates needed by the genre cap off developmental progress, particularly with independent developers.
