Gwangmyeong is a city in Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. It borders Seoul to the north and northwest, Anyang to the east and south, and Siheung to the southwest.

Districts

There are 18 administrative districts ("dongs" in Korean) in Gwangmyeong. Specifically , these are: Gwangmyeong Dong(from 1 to 7), Cheolsan Dong(4 dongs), Haan Dong(4 dongs), Soha Dong(2 dongs), and Hak-on dong.

There are 9 high schools, 10 middle schools, 21 elementary schools.

Attractions

The tombs of Yi Sun Shin (not to be confused with the more famous admiral of the same name) and Lee Won Ik are in the city, just north of Gwangmyeong Station. Lee Won Ik's cultural relics are also on display here. The city is also home to the Gwangmyeong Velodrome, the largest domed structure in South Korea.

Industry

The city hosts big firms in spite of being small scale. In total, there are 630 companies employing 11,636 persons. Kia Motors factory located at Soha-dong, Gwangmyeong City is the first general car factory Because of being nearest car factory to Seoul, it is convenient to find and get labor and resource. It has geographical merit that completed goods can be smoothly provided to metropolitan area. [City official page]
