"Funeral in Berlin" is a 1966 film based on the spy novel by Len Deighton. It is the second of three films following the characters from the initial film, "The IPCRESS File"; the third, "Billion-Dollar Brain", is arguably somewhat questionable in its approach to espionage.

Plot summary

Colonel Stok, a Soviet intelligence officer responsible for security at the Berlin Wall, wants to defect. Stok wants the British to handle his defection and asks for their agent Harry Palmer to organize his escape from East Germany. However, things are not how they initially seem.

Production notes

*The role of Samantha Steel was originally assigned to Anjanette Comer. Due to illness she could not continue in the role and Eva Renzi replaced her.

DVD release

"Funeral In Berlin" was released as a Region 1 DVD on August 14 2001. It was presented in Anamorphic Widescreen with English and French soundtracks in Dolby Digital Mono. A Region 2 version was released in 2004, in 4 languages and with subtitles for 24 languages.
